This was my first attempt at making a video to a piece of music I created on a very wet afternoon not long after my mum passed away. With a microphone picking up the heavy rain, I played along on a synth and created something very ethereal and uplifting. A couple of years later, on an evening I discover my dslr had video capability, the track was playing in the background, and as luck would have it, it was raining again. At that moment I went out and filmed what I found around me. The footage I captured over the next couple of days seemed to complement the atmosphere of the music.
Looking back, I think this was my attempt at trying to come to terms with my mum’s death and trying to capture the beauty in every precious moment of life, and one of the best reviews I could’ve had was from my brother who said he loved how I see ‘the beauty in the mundane’.
