Castle of the Wind

A recent day out around The Glyderau and my first visit to Castell Y Gwynt after picking a route at random on the OS map app, not knowing the beautiful, haunting vistas I’d discover with hardly anyone else around.

Starting at Idwal Cottage, onto Llyn Idwal, up through Devil’s Kitchen, up the scree next to Llyn y Cwm and then up towards Glyder Fawr. My little film project had to be abandoned when my lack of knowledge of the area coupled with my basic orienteering skills led me into a bit of an awkward spot trying to descend near Bristly Ridge and struggled to get down, choosing my own way which probably wasn’t the safest. Luckily I got down in one piece before dark.

The soundtrack was created a few days before my adventure and seems to fit well with the strange and eerie atmosphere of The Glyders.

Filmed on a Sony RX100iv on a gorillapod.

Thanks for watching!
